Fiat Voluntas Dei - May God's will be done

Welcome to

Our Lady & St. Werburgh's Catholic Primary School

Daily Timetable

Below you will see a more structured approach to home learning. You'll find a timetable similar to how we would structure our day at school, with links or resources for all lessons. You can email me pictures of your work if you would like feedback, or if you simply want to share your work with me or the rest of the class. Just let me know if you are happy for me to share your work with the others!

With Year 1 included in the first phase of our return to school, it will be more difficult to keep the school closure pages as detailed as they have been. During their days in school, the children will cover Phonics, English, Maths, RE, Science and PE primarily. With this in mind, I would recommend using BBC Bitesize or The National Academy for English and Maths on the days we are not in school, and then I will set a topic for the week, which should offer opportunities for Geography, History, Computing, Music, Art and D&T.

Topic

This week's topic is Dinosaurs!

Here are some ideas for how you could incorporate the different subjects:

Geography:

Where have dinosaurs been found?

Which area has produced the most fossils and dinosaur remains?

You could use a blank map of the world to colour and label your discoveries!

History:

What did Earth look like millions of years ago?

Can you tell me about the different time periods dinosaurs lived during?

You could also research the life of Mary Anning, a famous English fossil hunter and palaeontologist.

Music: Can you create your own lyrics about dinosaurs to a familiar tune, such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, or The Grand Old Duke of York? Use the beats in the song to help you!

Art/D&T: Create your own dinosaur! You can create a salt dough using just table salt, flour and water, or whatever else you have to hand! You could also create a fossil, using toy dinosaurs, or have a go at sketching (that soft and light drawing technique we've practised when we drew the fruit!) using pictures or toy dinosaurs.
