Fiat Voluntas Dei - May God's will be done

Welcome to

Our Lady & St. Werburgh's Catholic Primary School

Daily Timetable

Below you will see a more structured approach to home learning. You'll find a timetable similar to how we would structure our day at school, with links or resources for all lessons. You can email me pictures of your work if you would like feedback, or if you simply want to share your work with me or the rest of the class. Just let me know if you are happy for me to share your work with the others!

With Year 1 included in the first phase of our return to school, it will be more difficult to keep the school closure pages as detailed as they have been. During their days in school, the children will cover Phonics, English, Maths, RE, Science and PE primarily. With this in mind, I would recommend using BBC Bitesize or The National Academy for English and Maths on the days we are not in school, and then I will set a topic for every two weeks, which should offer opportunities for Geography, History, Computing, Music, Art and D&T.

 Week beginning: 29 June 2020

Topic

The next topic is Animals!

Here are some ideas for how you could incorporate the different subjects:

Geography:

Where does your favourite animal come from?

What do you notice about animals that live in cold climates and animals that live in hot climates? Do they have similar fur, or abilities?

History:

You could research some amazing conservationists and zoologists, such as Sir David Attenborough or Dame Jane Goodall.

Music: How many songs can you find that involve animals? Try to create a list of music - bonus points if you manage to learn the words to one of them!

Art/D&T: Why not create a painting of your favourite animal? You could even create a repeating pattern, like wallpaper, based on animal prints.

Further Work/Challenges

I will aim to upload some opportunities for furthering your child's learning here, with a mix of English and Maths challenges. There are also a lot of resources and sites out there for you to explore, (many of which are listed on the main Year 1 School Closure Page).

Maths

https://www.egfl.org.uk/sites/default/files/maths%20puzzles%20all.pdf - This link has a wide variety of problem solving activities for all ages, which can be adapted and changed easily, and used multiple times by changing the numbers. I personally use these a lot in school!
