Attendance Information

It is extremely important that your child comes to school everyday to ensure they get the best out of their time at Our Lady & St Werburghs. It is recognised that missing only a few days of the school week can impact significantly on a child's learning  and can be stressful when they return to school  in trying to catch up.  The attendance of children who do not attend school for reasons other than sickness are carefully monitored and in certain circumstances their parents will receive a fixed penalty notice.  The guidance below has been written by Staffordshire Local Authority regarding the taking a leave of absence during term time.

Why Good Attendance Matters

• Children who attend school regularly make better progress in learning

• Good attendance supports emotional wellbeing and social development

• Poor attendance can lead to gaps in learning that are difficult to close

• Habits formed in primary school support future success in education

Our aim is for all pupils to achieve attendance of at least 97% or above.

Clear policies are in place and consistently  implemented.  Parents and pupils are expected to follow the attendance policy for each academy. Headteachers, or designated senior staff, will liaise with other colleagues where any term-time absence is requested where pupils are also attending other CMAT schools.
